North Kansas City Rotary Club
Local Community Service
(Man, we sure love the metro)

High School Scholarships
It's true. The high school scholarships we award are by far our priority and favorite program. In the past 15 years alone, we have given over $100,000.
Education. It is something we feel incredibly strongly about and we are putting our monies where our mouths are.

Annual Spring Fling Beer Fest Fundraiser
Who doesn't enjoy a delicious home crafted brew to welcome spring? Each April, we host our club's primary fundraiser where pro and amateur brewers donate and pour samples for charity to kick off the crafter season.
It is a perfect collaboration. You give us money...we give you beer.

NKC Parks and Recreation Center Events
The Parks and Rec Center and staff are top notch. We are not just saying that because they are so generously give us a beautiful space to meet in each week...for free.
Our partnership with the department is a no-brainer. We work together on hosted events like the senior citizen movie day and the Ladies' Night Out in November.

Games For Good Fundraiser
Sponsored by the Kansas City Plaza Rotary Club, our club has been involved since the very first year. It is a day of fun and games, highlighting local charities and their good works. We have sponsored a team or two, with a couple wins in our pocket.
Never mind that we bring in ringers who can eat peanut butter sandwiches really fast and can hit wiffle balls really far.

Waggin Trail Dog Park Events
The Waggin Trail Dog Park is a hot spot in the Northland. The Parks and Rec Department sponsors the annual Howl-O-Ween Costume Party as well as the Boneanza Easter event.
We love to support it with our own display booth and supplying a professional photographer for the events.

Various Local Organizations
Harvesters. Meals On Wheels. Northland Christmas Store. Wheel It Forward. Stream Team. North Kansas City School District. First Christian Church Dog Days. Operation Breakthrough. Don Bosco Center. City of Fountains. US Citizenship Reception. Heartland Book Bank. Senior Citizens Luncheon. Colloboration Works. Library Maker Space. Church ladies. KC Rescue Shelter. Midwest Foster Care. Homeless Task Force. Just to name a few.

Warrior's Best Friend Foundation
Rescue pups. Veterans who have hurts that are not seen with the naked eye. Bringing together the two is a match made in heaven. We recently purchased 6 canine service vests to help the dogs' public ventures easier to handle.
We participated in the #BettyWhiteChallenge and donated $5 for every active member in our club.

First Christian Church Food Bank
It was an easy Satuday morning project for our club to build shelves at the local church for their food pantry.
Helping church folks do what church folks do...serving those in need.

Honor Flight Network of Kansas City
This is perhaps one of our most tender programs we have worked with. We have sponsored two vets to travel to Washington DC to spend the day with no cost to them.
In our club, we have three members who have participated in a flight. One sits on the board and actually has photographed 17 trips.

The NKC Snake Saturday Parade
It is pretty handy to have a retired fire batallion chief in the club when it comes to entering an awesome float like a restored vintage fire truck. If we see you on the sidelines, we will throw some candy your way.

Boy Scout Merit Badge College
With several club members who are not only former Boy Scout members but are Eagle Scouts, we have sponsored several Merit Badge Colleges. Nowadays, we support the Smithville Rotary Club hosting their annual event.

Hear 2 Help
We've got some golfers in the club who play to support the local KCI Rotary Club as well as the Hear 2 Help organization who donate hearing aids to at-risk children. Have clubs, will travel.

Summer Concert Series at Macken Park
Who doesn't love an old school picnic with fabulous music? We are venturing into the sponsorship of a concert day on any given Friday at noon next summer. Stop by. There's going to be drawings for some fabulous prizes like Dairy Queen gift cards. Yum!

The Healing House Bird Bath
Projects don't have to be life game-changers as evidenced by a simple purple bird bath. The old one was broken and an eyesore. For an easy $50, we were able to purchase one and paint it in a lovely garden color for the enjoyment of the recovering addicts who live in the home where the garden is located.

NKC High School Veterans Memorial
Perfectly positioned outside of the NKC High School, we used Rotary grant monies to refurbish the exsisting features as well as add a cool sign and flag pole.
We felt a tug to do this project, in part, because Don Ballard, a NKC High graduate, is a living Medal of Honor Recipient.

Feel The Warmth
If there was an award for the best donation of handmade scarves and hats, our only grandmother in the club would win hands down. Our club donated 35 winter items for free distribution by the Parks and Recreation Department throughout the winter.

Missouri Rotary Youth Leadership Academy
One annual program we invest in is sponsoring students to attend a high school leadership academy for the state of Missouri. It is internationally recognized as a model program for Rotary International and we have kids of our own club members who have attended.

Halos and Hogs Pack and Play Project
After losing a grandchild to SIDS, a set of grandparents founded a nonprofit to address infant and toddler safety issues. Since pack and plays are in high demand, we donated 10 to help insure the sleeping safety of little ones.

NKC Public Library Sewing Maker Space
As a hub of the community, we spent years meeting in their space as a club. In return as our appreciation, we worked with grant money and helped create a Sewing Maker Space. This included sewing machines, supplies and instructors. It is now standing room only in their classes!

Henson's Heroes
Meeting as youngsters in Children's Mercy Hospital Henson Tower fighting neurological challenges, Caleb and Raegan wanted to bring light to their fellow patients. They created Henson's Heroes, designed to support families with fun and games while their children heal.
